1963 Jaguar E-Type FHC
Semi Lightweight

anything. Peter Auto, Masters, Spa 6 hours
Tour Auto, Modena Cento ore
and then some
FIA HTP until 2030
Designed by Malcolm Sayer, the Jaguar E-Type debuted in 1961,
embodying a perfect blend of beauty and performance. Its aerodynamic lines,
innovative suspension and 3.8-liter inline-six made that the E-Type
quickly dominated races and rallies, including a class win at the 1961 Le
Mans 24 Hours and victories in the Tourist Trophy. Drivers like Graham
Hill and Briggs Cunningham praised its balance, power, and responsiveness,
making it a favourite on both track and road. Journalists hailed it as a
masterpiece, with The Times calling it “the most beautiful car
ever made.” Its lightweight monocoque construction and independent
suspension set new standards, cementing its legacy as a racing icon of the
1960s.
The 1963 Fixed Head Coupé version of the E-type’s Semi-Lightweight
evolution combined the ultimate aerodynamic shape with the poise and purpose of
a well-handling racing and rallying machine. Following the ideas of the
factory’s Lightweight programme, Semi-Lightweights offer aluminium paneling
with wider track, competition suspension and upgraded braking ability while
still maintaining the sturdy steel components and road-going comfort that
promote reliability as well as classic car rally suitability.
The E-Type remains a benchmark in historic motorsport – its
timeless design and competitive spirit continue to thrill drivers and
spectators alike at headline events like Le Mans Classic, the Goodwood
Revival and the Spa Six Hours, while it is equally capable of shining in
classic road-and-track events like the Tour Auto and the Modena Cento Ore or
gunning for championship trophies in series ranging from Peter Auto Sixties
Endurance, Masters Gentlemen Drivers, the GT & Sports Car Cup, Equipe GTS
and SuperSixties.
The car we are offering was imported from the USA in 1995 and
subsequently prepared for historic racing. After years of successful racing the
current owner commissioned a full bare metal rebuild in 2021 including the
installation of alloy body panels, a new 3.8L racing engine, new drive train
and new suspension. Since early 2024 the car was only used in 3 events at Spa,
Zandvoort and Dijon. The car was completely inspected, is in new condition, and
ready to race.
We see a unique opportunity to buy a competitively priced car that
is ready for all major historic events like Peter Auto’s Sixties endurance, Le
Mans Classic, Goodwood, Masters Historic Racing, Tour Auto, Modena Cento Ore
and many more.
